NEWS AND EVENTS

9-14-03 Today was a good day, 16 different snakes and at lest 7 different species no rattlesnakes yet but I'm heading back!

9-22-03 Today I photographed several Massasauga rattlesnakes! The bulk of this project is most likely over however I will be returning to the refuge periodically. Look for these photos with my next big gallery update probably within a month or so.

9-29-03 Watch for a very large photo gallery update coming in November. I am currently being held up because of some technical difficulties. (cruddy scanner) (done)

10-29-03 Researching the Nikon D100 digital camera because the scans look terrible, not even close to the actual picture. My friends, I think digital is here and I need to catch up!

11-24-03 Heading west again this Thursday, Death Valley and Vegas. Death valley to look for new photography experiences. Vegas, to look for other stuff......

12-01-03 Back from my last trip which got seriously altered at the last minute. Went south, Aransas NWR in search for Whooping cranes. Trip wasn't very successful.  Also spent some time at the Padre Islands, Mexico and Louisiana.

12-29-03 Just added new travel info about places to shoot and one new lens review.

1-25-04- 3 new photos added to gallery. Scanner continues to degrade images. These are likely to be the last images I add until I go completely digital. Which should be soon!

2-23-04 Nothing really new. Nikon has scheduled a March release date for the all new D70. The D70 will likely be my next camera of choice. This is a ground up digital camera with a 1/500 second flash sync! The stats on this unit are very impressive, more so than the D100 actually.

5-17-04 It's happened, I've gone digital! The Nikon D70 is here. Check out the new review and soon to be added pictures taken with it!

5-17-04 I am contemplating the idea of adding a human fashion photography page to this site. I feel the versatility I can gain by doing studio fashion work will sharpen my photo skills. Anybody interested in gaining practice modeling feel free to contact me. Kansas City locals. Keep in mind all you get for your trouble is some model practice, maybe a little tasteful internet exposure and of course a CD of your pictures. Click here for more information.

6-1-04 Just added a review for the Sigma 300mm f4.

8-13-04 New reviews for the sigma 180mm macro and Nikon 18-70mm zoom.

8-14-04 I will be heading the Smokey Mountains in September and southern California in October in search of some decent material! Any ideas for those areas will be appreciated!

9-16-04 Added 3 new Osage Copperhead photos. Also my view of the Smokey Mountains in Places to Shoot.

10-08-04 Back from southern California. Coming soon, 3 new rattlesnakes to the gallery and review of Joshua Tree National Park.

10-11-04 Three new rattlesnakes added to the digital gallery.

10-21-04 New galleries added.

1-03-05 Went to the Bosque Del Apache NWR over Xmas. Was plagued by equipment problems and weather conditions. Out of the several hundreds shots taken, I may use 5-10.

1-05-05 Gallery format changed and added a few new images.

3-23-05 Nothing huge, added some travel tips and some new equipment reviews. Looking for travel deals but insanely high gas prices are keeping me local. Will begin working with human models for a new site in the next week or two. Still working out the details.

3-24-05 Duh, I forgot that I have a new site up, sorta. www.eyeviewphoto.com.

4-06-05 Spring has sprung, the fields are blooming with white, purple and yellow. But Nikon still has my camera in the shop! We are not happy with Nikon right now. This is also making me push back several model shoots I have lined up. If I didn't have thousands of dollars wrapped up in Nikon mount glass, I'd be shopping Canon!

4-11-05 Nikon has returned my camera from the shop. I was annoyed at how long it took, but this thing is like new now! Now I can get back to saving the world, one image at a time!

4-11-05 Some new pages added to Photoservancy.com, including my News Blog!

4-22-05 Back on the timber track. Searching for timber rattlesnakes for the featured species articles.

5-4-05 New tripod head review added to equipment section.

5-11-05 This Friday I will be leaving for a Kansas tour. Kansas really offers a lot of bio-diversity. I will hopefully be adding western massasaugas and prairie rattlers to my photo stock list. 3 days in the sunflower state!

5-18-05 The Kansas trip is over. I achieved my primary target of finding and photographing a Prairie rattlesnake, however I did not locate all of my other targets. It was about a weeks worth of work in 3 days. Around 2000 miles in one flat state. Added some new park/refuge comments in places to shoot.

5-19-05 After close review of images from several lenses, it appears my Nikon is having some issues. It might be headed back to the shop.. I am most unhappy!

5-23-05 Yep, it's back in the shop.

5-23-05 Three new images added to amphibians and reptiles gallery. Texas horned lizard and Prairie rattlesnakes. New landscape coming soon.

5-24-05 Just a note, most of my June weekends have been hired out already. Flexibility will help if you'd like to hire my services for the month of June.

6-01-05 My Camera should be back on Friday, just in time to head out to Southern Utah.

6-4-05 Scratch that, camera isn't going to be here until Monday. We'll see where I end up.....

6-16-05 Back from my Southwest tour. Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Watch for some new venomous critters to be added to the galleries, plus new travel updates.

8-01-05 Sorry about the lack of new material and updates. I've taken another job working for THE MAN. I plan on catching up and posting some new stuff as soon as my schedule stabilizes and I'm not working 60 hours a week.

10-02-05 After a few weeks of dormancy I finally made it back out on the road, back to south Arizona. Look for some new rattlesnake photos, equipment reviews and my take on Arizona's national forests.

11-7-05 Revised reviews of the Nikon D70 and Sigma 70-200mm EX APO lens have been added to my budget equipment section. Also actually added some pictures of me in my "About Me" section.

03-24-06 Been off working on other projects. Switching gears on work. I will no longer be doing fashion and other human related photography. I have switched to real estate to help pay for my work in nature photography and conservation. This works well with my efforts to promote redevelopment over development. Recycling land instead of ruining more habitat. In the long run this will also open up my schedule to work more in the field.

04-11-06 Several new snake images added to the reptiles section.

6-26-06 The new business has finally allowed me to begin working on photography again, in fact I plan on breaking away at least 1 or 2 weeks every month or two from now on. Look for images from Aprils island trip. Just got back from 9 days on the road, another great western tour, my largest western tour so far. From the snowy tundra of Montana and Wyoming to the desert valleys of Utah and Arizona. Look for images from Grizzly bears to moose coming soon. The north has really got me excited about the Alaska trip and the up and coming South American trips. My national parks pass is getting a good work out. New essays on the following will be written soon, Badlands NP, Theodore Roosevelt NP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Capital Reef NP, Grand Canyon NP and various National Forests. Most notable of the National Forests, Shoshone NF.

8-17-06 The new D200 has arrived. I'll be giving it a good workout in Septembers Arizona mountain rattlesnake expedition. Watch for reviews!

9-05-06 This week we lost one of the greatest icons of conservation the world will ever see. Steve Irwin was killed in a freak snorkeling accident by a stingray.  Steve Irwin, a hero to many....including myself.

9-23-06 We're back from Arizona, look for new images of the elusive and endangered Twin-spotted rattlesnake plus many other rare and interesting critters. Debbie and I found SE Arizona so pleasant that we are pondering our future home there together.

10-13-06 New images added to the reptile gallery and the D200 review has been posted in budget equipment.

1-06-07 Things have been slow, just moved into the new house. Managed a trip to New Mexico over the New Year holiday.

1-31-07 Updated review on the Tokina 28-80mm 280 pro. Been working on some fashion related stuff in the new studio and an occasional fashion show. Will be adding a section on eco-house designs soon.

2-02-07 New images added to the landscape and birds galleries.

4-18-07 Haven't had much to report for awhile. I'm trying to get down to Florida soon, trying to get a couple more properties sold and out of our hair first.  I've also been very busy working on my triumphant return to full-time professional photographer status, which is going well so far! I'll try and get some equipment updates reviewed and hopefully some Florida material up soon!

6-06-07 Coming soon, my trip to Big Bend National Park and surrounding middle of nowhere Texas. Also, my review of the Nikon 105mm VR macro.

6-22-07 Just got back from my second west Texas trip of this month. Will be working on that 105mm review as soon as I test it on some static subjects. I will be discussing the photographic opportunities in west Texas shortly. I have to catch up with my editors first. Lots of work, little time..

7-16-07 Just added a few comments about Big Bend National Park. Also just added my thoughts on the Nikkor 105mm VR micro lens.

7-30-07 My other web site, eyeviewphoto.com has just received a major update! eyeviewphoto.com now has galleries, lots of them!

7-30-07 The Nikon 70-200mm f2.3 VR is on the way, look for an honest real world review shortly!

12-05-07 Boy, I've been slacking on the updates. Been real busy! I'll be testing the Sigma EX 28mm f1.8 shortly. I have added some in depth information and review pages on photo equipment. In theory we're heading to Florida in a couple weeks, lots of bird photography on the way!

7-03-08 Wow, I've been slipping on keeping up. Nikon announced a new full frame DSLR, the D700. I've ordered mine. Go to my shopping page and get your orders in. Remember, it's hard to get the new Nikons once shipping begins!
